WBJEE 2025 Results Soon! Date Confirmed After Supreme Court Verdict

WBJEE Result 2025: After months of anxious waiting, there’s finally some good news for thousands of students in West Bengal! The WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) results, which were delayed due to a legal tussle, are now expected to be released this week—thanks to a fresh Supreme Court order.

🔔 What’s the Latest on WBJEE Result 2025?

On July 28, the Supreme Court of India stepped in and put a stay on the Calcutta High Court’s earlier order, which had stalled the implementation of West Bengal’s revised OBC (Other Backward Classes) list. This legal hurdle had caused a major delay in the release of the WBJEE results.

Now that the legal roadblock is out of the way, the state government and education board are moving quickly to publish the much-awaited entrance exam results.

📣 Official Confirmations Roll In

A senior official from the West Bengal Higher Education Department confirmed to PTI that the WBJEE results are now on track to be released “very soon.”

West Bengal’s Education Minister Bratya Basu also assured students and parents, saying:

“With the legal roadblock removed, we’re fully prepared to move forward. We had anticipated this and are ready to act immediately.”

🗓 What’s Next?

Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee, Chairperson of the WBJEE Board, said the board received a formal directive from the state government on July 30 and will finalize the next steps shortly.

“We will implement the directive and announce our next move tomorrow (July 31),” she told PTI.

Another senior official added that legal consultations have been wrapped up, and the board is working on releasing the results as quickly as possible.

📅 What Caused the Delay?

The WBJEE exam was held on April 27, and the board had initially planned to declare the results by July 5. However, complications began when the Calcutta High Court stayed parts of the OBC reservation list, impacting nearly 140 subcategories.

This followed a May 2024 ruling that quashed the inclusion of 77 communities in the OBC list, leading to confusion over the revised reservation criteria. The delay was purely legal—not technical or administrative.

“Everything was ready, but the matter became subjudice. We had to wait for the government’s directive,” Banerjee earlier stated.

⚖ Supreme Court Steps In

On July 28, a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice BR Gavai stepped in and stayed the High Court’s interim order, calling it “prima facie erroneous.”

The top court also raised eyebrows at the High Court’s handling of the reservation issue.

“This is surprising. How can the High Court pass such an order? Reservation is part of the executive function,” said Kapil Sibal, senior advocate representing the state.

🎉 What It Means for Students

With the Supreme Court’s intervention, the WBJEE Board now has a clear path to publish the results without further legal delays. Students who took the exam can finally breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that the wait is almost over.

So if you’ve been refreshing the WBJEE website every day, hold on just a little longer—the results are likely to be released this week!
